Istanbul Climate Hub

As Istanbul Hub, the aim is to produce inclusive, just, and rapid solutions against the global climate crisis in Istanbul; to strengthen the city’s climate action capacity; to promote and advocate for climate communication; to support internationally led climate change campaigns and to create local campaigns; and to bring together different sectors in a shared transformation process; to organise or support capacity building activies.
Our target gruop is Children, Youth, Business Sector, Local Governments, NGOs, and Citizens.
Projects
As the CRP Istanbul Hub, we have already carried out five key activities:
- Collaboration with Üsküdar Municipality:
We secured a venue where we can hold our internal Hub meetings, and they also provided us with a space suitable for documentary screenings. - Partnership with Türkiye Young Women Engineers Association: We became a supporting partner in a project proposal focused on combating greenwashing in the business sector.
- Speaker Participation at the Sustainability Summit: The founder of Istanbul Hub represented the Istanbul Hub by speaking on climate justice and sustainability governance in Sustainability Summit led by Global Shapers Coommunity Bursa and Türkiye Young Women Engineers Association.
- Support for the World Bank Fossil Fuel Phase-Out Campaign: We contributed to the advocacy efforts calling on the World Bank to end support for fossil fuels.
- Visiting Climate Museum: We as a Hub Members visited Climate Museum in İstanbul
- Youth Climate Network: We discussed COP30 and screen Climate Extreme documentry
- Upcoming Event on 17 December: We will host a screening of the documentary Climate Extreme and facilitate discussions with students on solutions to climate-related problems in partnership with Bosphourus University and UNSDSN.
